The speculation over the main event for Red, White, and Bruised 2018 is over as PWA management announced a champion vs champion match between Randy The Rowdy Hillbilly and Gary Gandy for the Premiere Wrestling Alliance's showcase event.
On July 7th at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds, Randy will get his shot at the PWA Heavyweight Championship and Gary Gandy. The two men clashed recently at a PWA event. That match ended in a DQ win for Randy after he was attacked from behind by The Razorback with some assistance from the dastardly Nick Stevens. Many fans speculated that Randy would be awarded another shot at Gary Gandy's precious PWA Heavyweight Title at some point in the future. It appears now that The Razorback has been forced to leave the PWA, Randy will get his shot.
However, this may be the biggest challenge Randy has faced to date. Gary Gandy has excelled as PWA Heavyweight Champ. While he is much smaller in stature compared to The Razorback, Gary is a crafty veteran with a much more versatile offensive playbook. He can be quick and agile, or he can grind his opponent into the mat with his ground game. And of course his "protege", Wicked Will, is always on the outside ready to interfere on a moment's notice.
It remains to be seen if Randy The Rowdy Hillbilly will have to defend his PWA United States Championship as well at the PWA's showcase event, but Randy has expressed that he is more than willing to do so. He said, "I'm a fighting champion, and even though I'm facing Gary Gandy for the Heavyweight Title, I would still gladly defend the U.S. Title at Red, White, and Bruised." We will see if anyone steps up to accept that challenge, but at the very least PWA fans will be treated to a show stopping main event at Red, White, and Bruised, on top of an appearance from WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash, and more big time matches to be announced in the coming weeks.
